The fourth seed in the Western Conference will be decided on Saturday. Either Nashville or Detroit will get home ice in the first round of the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
If Nashville gets at least one point on Saturday night in Colorado, they will clinch the fourth seed regardless of the outcome of the game in Detroit between the Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks.
Chicago will clinch the fifth seed if they are able to get a win over Detroit in regulation. If the Blackhawks win in overtime or a shootout, the Red Wings will still hold on to the fifth spot.
Detroit can clinch the fourth seed with a win of any kind over Chicago and a regulation win by Colorado over the Predators. An overtime or shootout loss against Chicago would put the Red Wings in fifth regardless of what happens in the Nashville game.
The Predators can finish no worse than fifth place. Chicago cannot reach fourth place regardless of what happens on Saturday. Detroit can finish anywhere from fourth to sixth.
