Nashville continues dominance over Ducks

The Nashville Predators battled back from an early 1-0 deficit to get a 3-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night to close out the West Coast road-trip with a 2-1-1 record.

Things looked troublesome for Nashville when Devante Smith-Pelly scored a shorthanded goal for the Ducks at 7:32 of the first period. Anaheim had several scoring chances leading up to their shorthanded goal, and Smith-Pelly was able to capitalize on a great pass from Ryan Getzlaf.

Anders Lindback kept the Predators in the game. He made several key saves throughout the remainder of the first period and second period to keep the Ducks from adding more goals. Because of Lindback's stellar effort, Nashville entered the third period down by just one goal.

In the third period, Nashville came out with a much stronger effort. Patric Hornqvist tied the game at one for the Predators at 1:19 of the first period. Once Nashville got that first goal past Jonas Hiller, they were able to capitalize at critical times.

Mike Fisher gave the Predators their first lead of the game at 10:27 of the third period. Fisher was able to find the puck in the midst of a scrum in front of the Anaheim net and squeak it past Hiller. Anaheim would make a push as the game went along, but Lindback was there to make the key saves. David Legwand added and empty-net goal at 19:43 of the third period to secure the 3-1 victory for the Predators.

Nashville will head back to the friendly confines of Bridgestone Arena for a brief visit. They will take on the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night at home and then will hit the road again to take on the Pittsburgh Penguins.
