The Nashville Predators will take on the Carolina Hurricanes at RBC Center at 6 pm CT on Tuesday night from Raleigh. It will be the second game in a back-to-back set for the Predators. Nashville was able to hold on to defeat the Los Angeles Kings by a 2-1 score on Monday night at Bridgestone Arena.
Carolina is coming off of a 3-2 shootout loss to the Florida Panthers on Saturday night. The Hurricanes currently sit in 14th place in the Eastern Conference, and are extremely unlikely to make the playoffs this year. Still, the Hurricanes have young talent that is capable of scoring goals at any time.
Andrei Kostitsyn and Paul Gaustad will join the Predators in Carolina for their first game in a Nashville uniform. Anders Lindback will start in net for the Predators, which will allow Pekka Rinne to get some rest.
In the first meeting between these two clubs this year, the Predators dominated the Hurricanes en route to a 5-2 win. Ryan Ellis scored his first NHL goal against Carolina, and he will likely be in the lineup tonight due to an injury to Kevin Klein.
My player to watch for the Hurricanes is Eric Staal. Staal has been one of the most talented offensive players in the NHL over the past few years, and is still producing at a high level with Carolina this year. Staal leads the Hurricanes with 51 points, and is 19 points ahead of Carolina's second leading scorers.
For Nashville, my player to watch is Lindback. Lindback has struggled so far this year, and a win tonight could go a long way for his confidence. If he's able to get some goal support, Lindback could be on the way to his third win of the year.
