On Tuesday night, the Nashville Predators found themselves down 4-1 in the third period and were able to come back and win the game. On Thursday night in Philadelphia, the Predators found themselves in a similar situation in the third period when they were down 2-0. This time, however, they were not able to complete the comeback.
The Philadelphia Flyers were able to defeat the Predators by a 4-1 score on Thursday night at Wells Fargo Center. Wayne Simmonds led the way for the Flyers with two goals in the game.
At 8:37 of the third period, it looked like the Predators might be on the comeback trail once again. Philadelphia had a 2-0 lead, but Nashville quickly cut the lead to 2-1 when Ryan Suter was able to put one past Ilya Bryzgalov. However, that would be as close as the Predators would get. Simmonds added his second goal of the game at 15:19 of the third period, and Claude Giroux iced the game away with an empty-net goal at 18:55 of the third to secure the win for Philadelphia.
Anders Lindback got the start for the Predators. With the loss, Lindback moved to 2-6-0 on the year. He made several key saves on the night to keep Nashville in the game, but didn't get a lot of offensive help.
Nashville will take on the St. Louis Blues on Saturday night at Bridgestone Arena in a critical Central Division matchup. The Predators are 3-0-0 against the Blues this year, and will look to continue that success against St. Louis on Saturday night.
