Preds add to successful day by knocking off Phoenix

November 3, 2011, was a pretty good day for the Nashville Predators organization. They locked up one of the best goalies in the world in Pekka Rinne for the next seven years. Nashville then took the ice against the Phoenix Coyotes and beat them by a 3-0 score.

Rinne was his usual stellar self, and showed why he was worth the deal that the Predators gave him. He stopped all 35 shots that he faced, and made a few saves that were spectacular.

Jonathon Blum got his first goal of the season in the second period to put the Predators up 1-0. Matt Halischuk screened Coyote goaltender Jason LaBarbera on the play, and the puck was able to sneak through traffic for the goal.

The Predators took a 2-0 lead when Halischuk scored on a 2-on-1 rush. Craig Smith took the puck in the zone and made a great pass to Halischuk for the one-timer goal.

Nashville would hold on in the third period despite a pretty good flow of pressure by the Coyotes. Patric Hornqvist scored the empty-netter to ice the game away for Nashville. The Preds started the west coast road trip on the right foot.
