Preds escape Calgary with fortunate win

The Nashville Predators somehow defeated the Calgary Flames by a 2-0 score on Saturday afternoon despite being outshot 33-14. With the win, the Predators improved to 3-3-1 on the year.

Once again, Nashville had no business winning this game, but Pekka Rinne played his best game of year to steal the game from the Flames. He made several great saves to keep the Preds in the game.

Niclas Bergfors scored his first goal as a Pred in the second period. Jack Hillen fired a shot that deflected off of Bergfors and into the net. The Preds would add another goal in the third period when Craig Smith delivered a beautiful pass to Sergei Kostitsyn for a goal. Smith looked like he was shot out of a rocket on the play, and made a great play to Kostitsyn on the 2-on-1.

While the Predators did end up winning the game, getting heavily outshot isn't going to bode well for the Preds if the trend continues. They have to find ways to generate more offense.
