Nashville Gives Up 3-0 Lead; Detroit Wins in OT

It took me a while to calm down after this game. The Detroit Red Wings defeated the Nashville Predators by a 4-3 score in overtime after Nashville had a 3-0 lead early in the 2nd period.

Ryan Suter, Martin Erat, and Sergei Kostitsyn scored for Nashville, while Jakub Kindl, Justin Abdelkader(2 goals), and Dan Cleary scored for Detroit.

Nashville jumped out to a 3-0 lead and had all of the momentum when Shane O'Brien decided to start another fight with Todd Bertuzzi. Bertuzzi had already beaten O'Brien in a fight during the 1st period, but O'Brien decided to try and redeem himself. Instead, he got beaten again and gave the momentum back to Detroit.

There really isn't much more to say about a game like this. Nashville stopped playing and gave up another lead that ended up costing them. It's mindboggling that the Predators have not learned their lesson on playing a 60 minute game yet(Blog coming on this later). The good news is that the Preds only need to get three more points to clinch a playoff spot. Nashville's next game is Tuesday night against Atlanta.

  1. That was an impressive come-from-behind win by the Red Wings, especially after they got destroyed in their last game by a 10-3 score! They now have 11 consecutive seasons of 100 points or more, which is the longest streak in NHL history. Hopefully, they will be able to gain some momentum going into the playoffs by winning their last four games.
