Coming into this week, Nashville had the three most important games of the season for them. They took care of business by defeating Edmonton, and held on to come out with a victory over Anaheim. The third phase of that important week takes place Saturday night at Bridgestone Arena against the Dallas Stars.
Nashville comes into this game in 6th place in the Western Conference with 90 points and with 40 wins. Dallas comes into this game in 9th place in the Western Conference with 86 points and 38 wins.
The Preds have won 5 games in a row and are playing good hockey. In fact, the Predators are just 5 points behind the division-leading Detroit Red Wings. Nashville is getting hot at the right time. The key to the Predators' recent streak has been the play of Pekka Rinne and the rise in offensive production. When the Predators are playing this way, they're a difficult team to beat.
Dallas is coming into tonight's game with their backs against the wall, and are sure to come out with maximum intensity. The Preds have to match that intensity if they want to keep on the winning path.
So far this season, Nashville is 2-1-0 against Dallas. However, the Stars won the most recent game between the two teams in comeback fashion by a 3-2 score. With a win, the Predators will be sitting in great position. The puck drops at 7:00 P.M. tonight and the game will be televised on FS-Tennessee.
