Preds Take Care of Business Against Oilers

The Nashville Predators had struggled against the Edmonton Oilers all year coming into this game, and had just a 3-4-5 record when playing on Tuesday. The Preds improved on both of those aspects tonight as the beat the Oilers by a 3-1 score.

Martin Erat got the scoring started for the Predators in the 1st period on a great tic-tac-toe play from David Legwand and Joel Ward. Legwand faked the shot at the point and passed it to Ward, who passed it off to Erat on the back door. Nashville would tally again 3:32 later on the power-play when Patric Hornqvist converted on a great pass from Sergei Kostitsyn.

In the 2nd, Legwand would put the Preds up 3-0 on a great backhand shot that snuck past Devan Dubnyk. Jordan Eberle would put Edmonton on the power-play when he put the rebound past Rinne.

Nashville controlled the play for the majority of the 3rd period. Pekka Rinne made an unbelievbale stop on Tom Gilbert. Erat was denied another goal when he apparently made a "distinct kicking motion" that resulted in an empty net. The Preds would hold on and close out the game to get the win.

With the win, Nashville is now in 6th place with 88 points. They have a huge game on Thursday against the Anaheim Ducks.
