The Nashville Predators have been a streaky team throughout the 2010-2011 NHL season. Big winning streaks have been followed by big losing streaks. That is a trend that cannot continue at this point in the season if the Predators want to have success.
Going into Tuesday night's game against Vancouver, the Preds had won 6 games in a row. That streak was snapped when the Canucks defeated the Predators by a 3-1 score. If the Predators want to continue there march to the playoffs, they must not let the streakiness continue.
During the course of this season, Nashville has significant winning streaks of five games, six games, and the most recent six game winning streak. The Preds have also had three separate 3-game winning streaks. On the flip side, the Preds have had streaks of three consecutive overtime losses, a five game losing streak, a four game losing streak, a five game losing streak, another four game losing streak, and a three game losing streak.
Nashville can't go on a losing streak at this time in the season. The Preds have five games left and currently sit in 6th position in the Western Conference with 92 points. They still have to finish out the regular season on a good note in order to secure a postseason spot. That starts on Thursday night when the Preds take on the Colorado Avalanche.
