Hamhuis Humiliates Himself; Preds Beat the Best

I've been waiting for this one for a long time so I'm going to have a little fun with it. The Nashville Predators defeated the top team in the NHL in Vancouver on Thursday night by a score of 3-0. Pekka Rinne was fantastic in the game, stopping all 29 shots that he faced.

The 1st and 2nd period had a lot of up and down action for both teams, but nobody was able to find the back of the net. Each team was skating pretty hard and had good opportunites to score but both goalies were phenomenal in the first two periods.

Then came the 3rd period. Blake Geoffrion got the scoring started for the Preds on a terrific pass from Jordin Tootoo, who recorded his first point since he returned to the lineup.

Then came the moment. The moment I've been waiting for since the season started. Dan Hamhuis was skating the puck out of his own zone and tried to get by Patric Hornqvist. Of course, that didn't work and Hornqvist stole the puck. About two seconds later a series of events happened. Hamhuis was sprawled out on the ice, Roberto Luongo's jockstrap was in the faceoff circle, and Patric Hornqvist was celebrating a beautiful goal that put the Preds up 2-0. Hamhuis just got the puck ripped from him by Horn Dog.

That was the Dan Hamhuis I remember! I knew it would only be a matter of time before he pulled a really stupid move. I'm just so happy that it came against the Nashville Predators. Ah........gotta love karma.

David Legwand would tally an empty netter to give the Preds a 3-0 win, and Pekka Rinne's 5th shutout of the season. The Preds currently sit in 7th place in the Western Conference. They've got a big game on Sunday against the Calgary Flames.
