The Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Nashville Predators by a score of 4-1 on Wednesday night at the United Center. I'll start by saying that the honeymoon with Anders Lindback is over with. He was absolutely terrible tonight, which is the second game in a row that he's been bad. It looked like he had no idea where the puck was all night. The defense was also putrid, as was the amazing amount of turnovers that took place in all 3 zones by Nashville.
Look, I know I pick on Kevin Klein a lot, but most of the time he deserves every bit of criticism that can possibly be thrown his way. He was pathetic tonight. He made extraordinarily stupid decisions like inexplicably passing the puck back to Lindback, which Lindback compounded in to a turnover that led to the first goal for Chicago. Then, he had a great chance at the point that he managed to screw up yet again. All 5 Chicago players were down low and the puck came out to Klein at the point, who would've had a perfect opportunity with traffic in front. Instead, he wiffed on the puck completely.
All in all, the Preds didn't play well at all tonight. Barry Trotz decided that he would mess with all of the lines tonight. He put Hornqvist back with Sullivan and O'Reilly, and moved Wilson to a checking line. The Sullivan-O'Reilly-Wilson line was playing well but he felt the need to mess with it. Tootoo was a healthy scratch in this game. Look for Pekka Rinne to start tomorrow against Ottawa. Hopefully the Preds will come out with a better effort and actually look like they know what they're doing.
