Changes Need To Be Made

The Preds didn't show up today and got beat 5-2 in a game that really wasn't in doubt at any point. We had 2 power-play goals by Sullivan and Erat. Look, I'm not a blogger that's really going to sugar coat anything. I'm not going to sit here and make excuses for anything either. The "it's early in the season" argument doesn't fly with me anymore. We've played 21 games. Over 1/4 of the season is done and we're damn near the bottom of the Western Conference standings with an absolutely putrid offense and a really average defense.

In my book, the Trotz train needs to come to an end. I'm sure a lot of you disagree with me. The fact is he's been here since 1998 and we haven't gotten past the first round of the playoffs. The fact is we are not playing good hockey this year when the expectations coming into this year were as high or higher than they've been since we've gotten here. We're near the bottom of the Western Conference. We've played 21 games. We've won 9. We can all sit here and make excuses about injuries and other factors. The fact is, at some point you have to take responsibility for your team. We've reached that point.

Again, lots of you aren't going to agree. I understand that and respect that. I think a lot of that has to do with comfortability. He's been here 12 years. We're used to seeing his face. And he really is a great guy. A truly fantastic human being. I have nothing against him personally. But his system and style doesn't work. It's just time to change.

  1. I agree. Even if its not getting rid of Trotz the fact is that someone has to be held responsible. The problem is NOBODY is being held responsible. I have always heard that you cannot fire the players well what does that leave. This is the same team that I have watched the last 3 years. I agree that the excuses have to stop. Thank you for not passing around those rose colored glasses!

  2. If Barry was an NFL coach, he'd be gone in a heartbeat.

  3. If Barry was an NFL coach, he'd be Jeff Fisher.

  4. I have long been an supporter of both Barry and the Predators. At this point it is time for a change the boys are not playing with heart and seem like they expected it to be easy this year. It anything but that! It is very frustrating when you pay as much as I and my wife have for season tickets, you expect more from a team. Come on Preds get your act together, you have lost this season ticket holder!

  5. could you write a more argumentative piece about specifically why you think this? As in more than not getting past the first round and "no excuses". I've seen a lot from the fire Trotz bandwagon, but nothing to really convince me yet. I was actually hoping when i saw this article that it would help me see yalls point.
