Preds Hold On vs. Blues 4-3

The Nashville Predators came flying out of the gate against the Blues scoring 3 goals in the first period. Marcel Goc continued his hot streak and scored a goal less than a minute into the game. Steve Sullivan scored on a 5-on-3 power-play and also on another even strength goal in the first period. He almost had the hattrick on a breakaway in the closing seconds of the first period. The Preds went into the first intermission with a 3-1 lead.

In the second period, things got a little harder for the Preds. They didn't seem to play as well and gave up a goal to the Blues. But then, Patric Hornqvist responded with another power-play goal after a good shot by Cal O'Reilly, who had 3 assists on the night.

In the third period, the Predators got very lucky. They seemed to be running out of gas. The game the night before and the two periods that they had played already seemed to be catching up to them and they played sluggishly. However, Anders Lindback showed what he can do and saved the day for the Preds. The Preds held on to win the game by a scored of 4-3.

The Predators scored 2 power-play goals tonight.

Marcel Goc has 3 points in 3 games.

Steve Sullivan now has 4 goals on the season in 3 games.

The Preds are 3-0-0 with 6 points.

Matthew Lombardi was scratched with an upper body injury.

Martin Erat was put on IR and is expected to come back on Tuesday.

3. Anders Lindback. He played very well tonight and was the real hero for the Preds in the 3rd period.

2. Steve Sullivan. Sully had 2 goals tonight and played really well in the first period. He was a little shaky after that but played a pretty good game.

1. Cal O'Reilly. Cal played very well tonight. He had great vision and ended up with 3 assists.

Preds vs. Caps on Saturday night at the Bridge. That ought to be a really fun game. If the Preds can contain the explosive offense of the Capitals, they should be able to score some goals against the defensively challenged Caps. One game at a time.
