The Preds and Blackhawks faceoff tomorrow night at 7:30 at the United Center in Chicago. The Preds are coming into this game a little shorthanded. Pekka Rinne will not make the trip to Chicago. Martin Erat, Sergei Kostitsyn, and Jamie Lundmark will also not make the trip.
It looks like Anders Lindback will make his first NHL start. Mark Dekanich has also been called up to back up Lindback. We'll see where this injury with Pekka goes. It's obviously more serious than they originally said because he's not even making the trip to Chicago. After the game Saturday you would've thought he could've played on Sunday the way they were talking about it. I happen to like Lindback. He really looks like Pekka from two years ago.
Martin Erat not making the trip can be viewed from a couple of different perspectives. The Preds lose some offensive creativity, but they also lose some stupidity. Hopefully, there won't be any more repeats of Game 5 tomorrow night when Erat made the dumbest series of plays in the history of the Nashville Predators and possibly the NHL. So this is, I think, a positive and negative thing for the Preds.
Chicago defenseman Nicklas Hjalmarsson has been suspended for 2 games, so he'll be out vs. Nashville. He gave a pretty nasty hit Monday night against the Sabres. Patick Sharp seems like he will play even though he's been banged up for a bit, but Brian Campbell will be out.
The Preds come into the game 1-0-0 with 2 points and the Blackhawks come into the game 1-1-1 with 3 points. Nashville's job will be a lot tougher without Rinne but, heck, I'll take Lindback over Turco any day.
