Kariya Out For This Year

Former Pred Paul Kariya will not play during the 2010-11 season. He's suffering from "post-concussion syndrome". So, for now, the speculated reunion with Teemu Selanne is on hold. While most speculated that he would make a return to Anaheim, rumors were circulating a couple of weeks ago about a possible return to Nashville.

While I never put much merit in him returning to Nashville,(although I hoped he would) it saddens me to here this news. Kariya still holds the franchise records for points in a season with 85. He is one of the greatest players in Preds history.

Having said all this, the season is a long haul. He may decide to give it a shot in January. Stranger things have happened. So whether or not he'll be out the whole season, we'll have to see. But the NHL is a better place when #9 is on the ice.
